Miss Glossybox - Sep/Oct Product Review NYC Showtime Nail Art (Silver)

Bonjour Beautiful!
I don't think I've mentioned on here yet that I'm a Miss Glossybox subscriber. After I was given a 12 month Birchbox subscription as a gift I started browsing around looking at what else was available. I came across Miss Glossybox and decided it was worth trying. It's aimed at younger girls/women and instead of carrying samples of high end products, it does high street stuff. I thought it would be good to try out some new high street stuff as I can be a bit of a creature of habit in Boots, and also, this only comes every two months, so it's not like I'd suddenly be overloaded with the stuff.

So in the Sep/Oct box I received a 4ml bottle of the Nail Art Creation in Silver - it isn't listed on the Superdrug site at the moment but it's probably around £1.99 or so. I started a new job a couple of weeks ago and have broken all of my already stumpy nail in the process. Great. So I decided to try out this nail art stuff and see if I could do something pretty to distract from their current state.

As I took the brush out I noticed that it was quite a runny polish and so I abandoned my plans and decided just to test it out and see how it was. I just went for some criss-crossed stripes, I have no idea why.

First nail was alright - although Jesus, seeing this now I can see my paint job might have been a bit rough! - and I thought it applied pretty well really.

But as I continued, things went downhill. The already runny polish is difficult to control; it seems to be either nothing on the brush and then it's invisible or, a big gloop appears and floods the whole thing. I tried various things to even it out and stop this happening, but no, it was just really uncontrollable.

Sorry, my camera just did not want to focus on this! But you get the gist I'm sure; the brush kept splitting. It was a nightmare. The only way to stop the brush doing that was to have far to much product on the brush, the weight of it held things together I imagine, but then that also made it pretty unusable. Maybe I just got unlucky with the bad brush, maybe that's not normal, but even without that I don't think I'd repurchase, it's far too runny and uncontrollable for my tastes.

What I will say in the 'pro' column is that the dry time is really fast; even in parts where it ended up going on thick. Also, the silver colour is lovely both in the bottle and as a finish, it's a really foil-like metallic that 'pops' against matte, or even gloss finishes nail varnishes.

Have you ever used the NYC Showtime Nail Art paints? Did you have the same experience as me, or was I unlucky?
