Birchbox Product Review - No 4 Non Aerosol Hairspray

Hey guys!

So I wasn't quite sure how to feel when I received this product in my Birchbox - hairspray is good, it's useful, it's not like this one is going to go to waste. But on the other hand, it's hairspray, for me, it's not a magical product - I don't require it to perform miracles, just to hold hair in place, and I have some that already do that.

So this is a 43ml sample size, the full size which is (I think) 200ml, is available in the Birchbox shop here, for £18.50.

The packaging of it is great, and it's an awesome size for keeping in your handbag, if, like me, your hair is wild enough to warrant re-application throughout the day.

So, I do like non aerosol hairsprays - I try to always use them, though I do have a big old Vo5 can lurking about somewhere for mad panic, oh God oh God I just need my hair to do SOMETHING, kind of days.

One of the problems common with non-aerosol hairsprays is that they spray too much over too small a space - it's too condensed and can lead to hair clumping, stickiness and hair product visibility. Not great. This spray doesn't do that - it's very fine, very light and easy to work with.

I feel weird talking about the 'hold' strength of this spray because my hair is like a supernatural force (if that force was frizz) and it is not easily tamed. The hold on this spray is good and I have no doubt would be great for people with 'normal' hair... but it doesn't quite cut it for me, at least not in this Scottish wind!

This spray doesn't leave a residue in your hair either, the next day you don't have that weird shaped hair that still kind of looks like it's trying to be tied up... even though you're trying to wear it down. So that's always a plus.

I guess the long and the short of it is that it is a perfectly good product, but for me, it's almost 4 times the price of my regular - Umberto Gianni - hairspray, and I just don't see four times the improvement from this.

Have you used this product? What did you think? What is your 'go-to' hairspray?
