December 2013 Love Me Beauty Box Overview

Hello friends!

I'm here with an overview of the December Love Me Beauty box that I received... in January. I obviously signed up at an awkward time and so I get my boxes "late" (or a long time after they first come out), which normally isn't really an issue I guess, though getting the "Christmas" box in January was odd!

I'm going to be honest and say that I haven't played with anything in depth yet, but initial first impressions and swatches are not overly positive. Love Me Beauty cost £10 a month (plus £2.95 p&p) the same as Birchbox, and I have to be honest and say that this month, I really don't think Love Me Beauty was worthy of that equal price tag.

Love Me Beauty boxes don't come in fancy packaging like Birchboxes do. There's just a cardboard box with some tissue paper and shredded paper inside. Unlike Birchbox where there's a cute and reusable box (inside the external "post" packaging) and then within that, there's a cute little drawstring bag that contains the products. But then, I knew this about the packaging and concluded that it didn't matter too much - it's really what's on the inside that counts.

So, what was inside this month's box.

Lord and Berry intensity lipstick in Glazed Pink - Full Size
I really like the colour of this, and it's not something I already have in my collection really, it's also nice to be getting a full size product. I have worn this a couple of times and I really do like it. It stays on really well and is a flattering and very wearable colour.

Lord and Berry Kiss Proof lip liner in "Spice" - Full Size
Not happy with this! The option I ordered - the whole point being you can choose colours to suit your palette - was supposed to be "Romantica", that's what I ordered and that's what's listed on my card that comes with the box.
Instead they've sent me "Spice", a very dark orange based brown that I will never, ever use. What's the point in allowing people to choose colours and then just ignore what they've chosen?
As far as quality, I don't think it's great either. It drags on application - even on a hand, it's much worse on the soft lip area - and it's really patchy too.

Headline Colours nail polish in Quicksand
Again, a full size product which is nice, and thankfully this one seems to be of much better quality! The packaging feels a bit cheap, and so my hopes weren't high, but actually it applies very well - it's not gloopy or too thick and it was opaque in one coat. It's also a fabulous colour. I haven't worn it long enough to comment on wear unfortunately,

S5 Vitality Mask 15ml
This is a face mask that contains marine enzymes and is designed to minimize pores and imperfections. I haven't used it yet but it smells nice enough and sounds promising - I do love  a good face mask.

Rodial 5 Minute Facial 10ml

Excited about this one as I've heard good things; haven't had a chance to use it yet though; saving it for a nice pamper night.

Overall I'm disappointed in this box. Given that it's the same price as Birchbox I think it's of a much lower standard; in terms of packaging, products, service... I'm just not impressed. I think especially this month I feel like I got so much more from Birchbox; it felt like a real festive treat - whereas this feels disorganised and thrown together.

I think I'll give it one more month, but if I'm not impressed then, I think I'll just save the £12.95 a month and choose myself something I know I'll like!

What do you think of the December Love Me Beauty box?

Thanks for reading,
Kitty
