"My Nail Polish Diary" by Nails Inc. - January

Hello friends!

So just before Christmas I saw a great deal on the "My Nail Polish Diary" by Nails Inc. and couldn't resist treating myself (naughty).
It's a beautiful collection of full size nail polishes presented in a diary-style box - there's one nail varnish per month (so twelve in total... duh Kitty), and there's a wide variety of different colours and effects.
It's currently available on the Nails Inc. website, here, in the sale for £30.

So I decided to be weird a good girl and actually stick to using a new one each month - kind of something to look forward to.

So January's polish is the Kensington Caviar Topcoat. Initially I was a bit gutted that the very first one wasn't a "real" nail varnish, it didn't seem like the most exciting way to start. But then of course I realised, it's probably good to have the topcoat first so that you can then wear it on top of all the other nail polishes.

OK, so let me just start by saying; I am in love with this topcoat.

I have to admit that for a long time, topcoats were something I didn't really bother with - I don't really enjoy painting my nails and frankly, I find I chip them anyway, no matter what's painted on top.

Recently, I began using the Revlon "Quick Dry Topcoat", which promises to dry nails in 30 seconds. And basically it does - give or take a few seconds here or there. It does the job and it leaves nails looking a little more glossy. I was loving it. No more impatiently smeared nails.

This top coat, however, blows it out of the water.

It dries nails very quickly and evenly, and it leaves them with the most beautiful finish. It's like glass. They're so smooth and glossy, they look like they've just been done. And they stay looking that way.

Having a little look at prices and the Revlon is about £6.50 whereas the Nails Inc. will run you £12, so almost double the price really. Now normally, if there's a cheaper product that works "well enough" I'll stick with that and save some pennies. But not this time. In my opinion the Nails Inc. top coat is worth every penny extra!

Now normally each month I'll have photographs of my nails done in the new polish, but not this month because:

a) it's a top coat so it's a little tricky to show the true beauty of it in a photograph

b) I had a little bit of a nail disaster while opening a can of tin food (there's the reason everyone's switched to pouches) this morning meaning I've broken one nail and chipped three.

So that's all for now, but I'll leave you with a couple of photos of inside the box; a preview of the delights to come!

Thanks for reading,
