June Favourites

Well, Summer is here - well actually it appears to have been and gone in the West of Scotland, but never mind that - and my favourites are reflecting that for sure. Well, I think so anyway, the complete absence of any tanning products may make some of you feel otherwise.

Sleek Eyeshadow Palette in Storm
I hauled this a while ago and have been meaning to do a devoted post on it for ages. I had seen this palette about loads and had always snubbed it because there were a couple of blue colours in there. Then, having purchased almost every other Sleek palette I grudgingly picked this one up. How crazy was I?! This is without a doubt my favourite of the Sleek palettes. Like I said, I have a full post coming, but I just find this palette to have every look I could need in it and, as always, I lurve the pigmentation and quality of Sleek shadows.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Ole Flamingo
Yes, quite a jump from the Creme Brulee lip butter that's been a favourite for months (it still totally, totally is by the way, but I figured I'd already featured it enough for y'all to get the message). I bought this after seeing Vivianna Does Makeup rave abut the range and I have not been disappointed. I don't like my teeth - I would literally rather stand naked in a room full of people than smile at them - so generally I don't do bright lips that draw attention, but, this lip colour makes it worth facing my fear! It applies really evenly and easily and the finish, my word, 'velvet' really is the word for it - it's stunning. Colour wise, it certainly is bold, but I generally just wear it with a muted face and simple winged liner to balance things out.

The Body Shop Body Butter in Vineyard Peach
There truly is a Body Shop body butter for every occasion and season and this one is, for me, truly Summer-y. This smells so much like peaches it's unreal - it completely freaked Kenny out the first time I wore it! These butters are so moisturising, but at the same time they smell so fun - you don't have to endure some kind of medicinal smell to get the good moisturisation!

The Body Shop Vitamin C Daily Moisturiser SPF 30
Generally, I use LUSH face creams - I find them to be by far the best for my skin - however in Summer, and especially because I don't always wear foundation (so no SPF from that) I switch to this to give me some sun protection. I'm very, very pale you see. I also like what this does for my skin; it's designed to be brightening for dull skin - definitely a problem I face - and I feel like it does, really brighten my face. It tingles a bit when you apply it, but it absorbs really fast and it leaves your skin looking a but more lively. It also smells like oranges and sun cream - freaking amazing.

Sure Cotton Fresh Cream Roll On Deoderant
So, I've posted before about my strange relationships with deoderants, but the long and the short of it is that, while I'd rather not use aerosols and inhale all the nastiness, I've struggled to find a roll on that works for me. I hate all the dry time and stinging when you've just shaved your pits (lovely) - but it's true, I've never got on with them. I often feel like they 'melt' back off me too and don't offer the best protection - possibly, I'm over applying. This one though, I kinda like. It leaves freaking awful white stains on my bra, but thankfully, nowhere else so I can deal with it. But application and protection wise, it's great. Bit of an odd one to mention in a favourites but hey, just tellin' it like it is.

Tres Semme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo
I've never used dry shampoo before. It's because of the having to brush it through thing - I have insanely curly hair and inbetween washes it cannot be brushed; either with a brush or with my fingers. I got this in a Glossybox (don't ask, it's a whole long ranty other post) and I was having one of those morning where you're one more snapped hair band away from shaving your head, I saw this out of the corner of my eye and thought, sod it, worth a shot. This didn't make my hair too white and what little was left rubbed away easily. It left me feeling so fresh and just sorted - honestly, what a revolution for me! I can use dry shampoo! Mysteriously this is meant for oily hair which is the very opposite of what I have but hey, I ain't gonna question it!

Soap and Glory Glow Lotion
Yes, I know this was in last month's favourites, but I love it so much I couldn't not mention it again! I'll keep it brief! I don't do tanning - I know nothing about where to start and frankly, I'm not brave enough to experiment - so this, for me, is Summer skin. Nice glow, natural-ish looking (meaning there's no glitter) and it also leaves you smelling amazing all freaking day.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Nail Polish in Sex on the Peach
I haven't worn nail varnish much this month if I'm honest. My days off have been scattered and even as much as I love nail varnish I can't necessarily be bothered painting my nails for less than 24 hours - not when I'm so bad at it and it takes me so long! My sister kindly picked this up for me after I had seen her wearing it and liked the shade - plus, I haven't really used L'Oreal nail polishes before so I was keen to see what they're like. This is a lovely peach shade with pink tones to it, which makes it flattering for my skin tone. Formula wise I felt it was a little transparent - it took four coats - but it wasn't gloopy or runny so they weren't a big hassle to apply. I've just been loving the colour it's like a great Summer nude.
