#FOTD: Graphic Cat

I feel kind of weird posting this one because I feel like; is this even a look? Is this worth posting? But in the end I decided I would. This may be the most bog standard, fall back look for a lot of people (quick liquid liner and a red lip), but for me, this is outwith my comfort zone. I may have mentioned before, but I don't like my teeth (notice the complete lack of smiley shots here?) and so I don't often wear bold lips that draw attention in that area. But when I dressed in this ensemble (read: threw on jeans and a boyfriend tee), and I had my nails all painted red, and everything else was so monochrome - I decided to go for this look.

I wanted to create a really simple base so I used the Revlon PhotoReady Primer to blur imperfections and just generally smooth over everything, and then over the top I applied the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation - my go to shimmerless foundation for creating a very sleek, understated look. I have very red cheeks naturally; red enough that they will still show through both of these layers and so I gave blush a miss today. Instead I applied a generous helping of the Glow Highlighter from Topshop to my cheekbones, brow bones and frankly, probably just randomly dabbed some about too. Brows got the usual treatment I'm afraid, some Maybelline Brow Master Pencil (Soft Brown) and some Natural Collection Clear Mascara to tame the beasts. Thank God big brows are in, that's all I'm saying. When I came to applying my liquid liner, which was the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner (black) by the way, I decided to do something a little different. Instead of doing a fluid cat flick that follows my eye and flatters the shape for emphasis, I decided to wing the liner out more harshly, so it looks a little jarring and stands out as being more of a statement than an enhancement - I kinda like it. Mascara wise I am still using the Bourjois Volume 1 Second (Waterproof), largely because I cannot make up my mind about it and am determined to decide if I love or hate it! I only did one other thing to my eyes and that was to add a very faint smudged line of Urban Decay Glide on 24/7 Eyeliner (Desperation) under my lower lashes, and a little in the outer corner of my waterline for some definition. Then onto lips and I am sporting the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Finish Lipstick (Frambourjoise). Like I said earlier, I ain't into bold lips, but these lipsticks from Bourjois are just so good - even I brave wearing them!

And that's the look. Like I said, a lot of people may be like "duh" as I know it's fairly basic, but then, sometimes it's good to remember we can pull off looks without using 265 products that take us 45 minutes to apply. I have a full review coming on a few of the products used here, but if there's anything in particular you'd like to hear more about, just let me know in the comments below.

  1. It's a lovely look & totally worthwhile doing xxx
