Lip Product Addict Tag

1. Favourite balm/treatment?

Well this is an easy one to start off with! For me, the best lip balm for moisture, ease of use and also, prettiness is Baby Lips from Maybelline. I have the mint scented clear version, but I find that the tinted shades moisturise just as well and so I end up using Pink Punch and Peach Kiss more often than not.

I guess I must be lazy because I don't actually use lip treatments much.. is that just me? The only thing I do use, albeit slightly sporadically, are the Lip Scrubs from LUSH. At the moment I'm using Bubblegum, but I also love the one they bring out at Christmas! These are basically sugar scrubs designed to exfoliate your lips and leave them looking healthy, full and smooth - removing the dead skin from your lips in this way will also vastly improve how lipsticks sit on your lips.

2. Best eye-catching red?

I don't do red lips all that often, but even so I find it hard to choose a favourite! I don't like my teeth and so I don't typically like drawing attention to my lips - I'm more of a strong eye makeup kinda gal - so generally if I wear a red, it's a sheer red and my pick for that is Cherry from Sleek. It does bleed a little so I find a lip liner is a good idea, but it's such a classic, vampy yet elegant colour.

3. Best luxury & best drugstore?

Best luxury lipstick is a relatively easy pick for me as I only own a few and it has to be Urban Decay's Native. I love the packaging on these, they feel so luxurious and expensive and this shade is just great for me; I never thought I'd have an 'everyday' high end lipstick; I always thought I'd buy fancy shades and save them for special occasions, but I'm so glad I bought this one; it's a pale nudey pink, it's just great on my fair skin.

Best drugstore is a lot more difficult to decide on. I'm going to go with two, but here me out! I love the Revlon Lip Butters - they're probably what I wear on my lips more often than not. But they're lip butters not really lipsticks. My most worn shades are by far Creme Brulee - a super pale nude that's kinda 90's-esque and Berry Smoothies - a warm, slightly shimmery berry shade. These are very sheer and nourishing but the pigmentation in them is smooth and beautiful too - looovvveeee.

Creme Brulee, Berry Smoothie, Beigie Democrachic, Mauve Tabloid

True favourite drugstore lipstick is the Bourjois Shine Edition Lipsticks - these have a shine finish (surprise, surprise) and while yes, I love the glossy finish (something I never thought I'd hear myself say, or, er, see myself write, even) the colour's a lot more long lasting in these than you might expect. My favourite shade is Beige Democraphic - which is a pinky, pale nude and I also love, Mauve Tabloid - a much deeper, purple toned berry shade.

4. Best MAC lipstick?

Well, I actually only own two and both of them were bought within the last month so each has a 50% chance of being chosen. And folks, the winner for me is...Rebel. This is such a unique (for me) shade and yet, despite how bold it is, I find it to be surprisingly wearable. It goes with a lot of looks and even though I'm really pale, I don't feel like it drains me.

5. The most disappointing?

[no picture because I no longer have it!]

Most disappointing lipsticks, umm... that's a tough one actually, I luckily haven't been that disappointed in too many. I guess it would have to be the L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick in Blush in Plum. It's the only one I've bought from the range and I wasn't impressed - it's kind of too sparkly, the colour kind of wears off easily and you're just left with glitter lips, it also smells really strongly of Parma Violets. I don't hate it, but at the same point, I haven't been tempted to buy anything else from the line so I guess that speaks volumes!
6. Liner - yes or no?

Have I mentioned I'm lazy? Haha, well I am, I only wear it if I 'have to'. I only own a couple and erm, I can't quite seem to find them at the moment! That's how often I use them folks! While I've got you here, this reminds me - any recommendations for a clear lip liner, then I could just carry one?

7. Best gloss?

Nope, no gloss, nope, nu huh. I don't like lip glosses at all! I can't stand that sticky, slimy feeling *shudder*. Every so often someone tells me to try such and such because it isn't like that, and it always is. They're just not for me!

8. Something extra!

Not entirely sure what I should put in here, I don't use anything wild and wonderful on my lips. I guess I'll just mention a product that was a kind of 'runner up' in a previous category and that would be the Revlon ColourBurst Lacquer Balms - the glossy ones, not the matte balms. I think we've established by now that I like a sheer/nude lip and so it's probably no surprise that I like these. I have Enticing - a deep, almost blood red, and Demure - a pale, girly pink that just shows up very lightly on the lips; I wear it to work a lot.

Oh, wait, just thought of something else to mention! In the July Glamour Magazine there were Clinique minis and I got the Strawberry Chubby Stick. I am in love  with it. So, this may be the start of an expensive love affair... Until trying this I would never have dreamed of paying this kinda price for a lip product, but honestly, I can now see it's totally worth it.
