NYX Haul

NYX Haul beauty shopping makeup

When I was in the States a couple of months ago, I picked up more than a couple of things from NYX, almost all of which I fell in love with, so of course, upon landing back in the UK what did I do? Look into ordering some more! While NYX is not a brand we can find on the High Street (NEXT does stock it, but I’ve never found it in a store… yet), they do have a UK based website
, which is brilliant, and majorly hazardous for an online shopping fiend like me.

I wanted to try some different things, you know, kind of like a sampler platter order; so I placed one cream blush and one powder blush in my basket. The Cream Blush (£5.50) is in the shade Natural which, no it doesn’t look in the pan, but worked into the cheeks it does give a relatively natural looking flush, at least, on my ruddy complexion at least. Formula wise it’s not my favorurite, I prefer Bourjois’ offerings which are quite creamy, whereas this is a harder, drier formula. The Powder Blush (£6) on the other hand, I am in love with – I picked up the shade Angel, a shimmery (but not sparkly) pinky nude that goes on so delicately, but can build up so well. Very versatile and understated for days when you’re wearing a stronger eye/lip.

Onto lips now, and despite ‘wanting to try new things’ I couldn’t possibly not pick up a couple more of the legendary ButterGlosses (£5) – in the shades Merengue and Strawberry Parfait to be exact. Merengue, is a very sweet, cool toned pink that looks a lot bolder on the lips than it does in the bottle. I like it, but then I love a cool pink, best avoid this one if you don’t so much. Strawberry Parfait looks much more intense in the tube, but actually is much paler on the lips (I know, confusing). It’s a very sheer, berry toned gloss, that I’ve been enjoying layering over nude lip liners. I love the ButterGlosses, the formula, the shade range, the smell… and that’s coming from a ‘gloss hater’!

Another favourite I had to grab another of is the XtremeLip Creme (£7) – this time I chose the shade Pinky Nude which, while absolutely lovely, is definitely not nude, and not really even that pink! It’s a bold kinda watermelon shade! The joys of shopping online...
One last lip product, a new one for me, I chose one of the Jumbo Lip Pencils (£5) in the shade Hera which is just the most beautiful, sheer, berry shade – so easy to wear!

And then, of course, how could I place an order without an eye shadow palette in it? I went for one of the Ten Pan Eye ShadowPalettes which was reduced from £10 to £6.50 – bargain! I chose the combination Strike a Pose and I have to say, I’m loving it. Quality wise it’s good but not great – little lacking in pigment – but the colour range has been so fun to play with; some nudes, but also some colours (including a super seasonal cranberry red), kinda coaxing me out of my nude-hued comfort zone a little!

And that's everything I picked up from NYX! What are your favourite products or, what would you like to try!
