Project 10 Pan Update One

Time for a little update I think: overall I feel it's going well, I feel motivated, but there's some things I need to give myself a kick about...

ITEM ONE - 2 X 30 ML HAND CREAMS (STARTED 100% FULL)

Well these are both now completely finished. Hurrah. These were fine; they provided some moisture and didn't irritate my skin at all, however, there are far better hand creams out there, even if you're on a budget. I didn't mind using these up, but I also wouldn't repurchase them.

ITEM TWO - CRAZY RUMORS GINGERBREAD LIP BALM (STARTED 65% FULL)

Another finished item - woohoo! I loved this lip balm; by far the best I've ever used. It's 100% natural, cruelty free and vegan and it's made with shea butter so it's super hydrating. One thing to be aware of though is that it does leave quite a thick layer on the lips - it doesn't feel greasy on unpleasant, but it's certainly a bad idea to use it as a base for lipstick. I'd love to repurchase another from this brand, but want to try and use up a couple of others that I have first.

ITEM FOUR - LUSH SOLID PERFUME IN KARMA (STARTED AT 90% FULL)

As I mentioned in my intro post, I find myself increasingly unable to wear perfumes without them triggering an anxiety episode. I've been trying my best to wear this, even around the house, but I haven't managed to a lot. Going to try for another couple of weeks and failing that I'm just going to have to call it quits on this one; sure, I want to use my beauty products up, but not at the expense of feeling panicky.

ITEM FIVE - URBAN DECAY 24/7 GLIDE ON EYELINER PENCIL, TRAVEL SIZE, IN COVET (STARTED AT 90%)

Um, so I haven't really worn this at all this month *slaps self on wrist*, I know, I know, it's poor - I need to work harder incorporating it into daily makeup looks. I always just kind of forget about it until the end, by which point it never seems like I cant just tag it on to the existing look. I think I've sharpened it once this whole month...

ITEM SIX - MAYBELLINE COLOR TATTOO IN ON AND ON BRONZE (STARTED AT 95%)

Have used this every single day I've worn makeup this month, and I do think it looks like it's starting to pay off a little - though it's clear this one is going to take a while to finish, no matter how hard I try. I'm not really complaining though as I love using it as a shadow base, it gets the job done in terms of stopping creasing, and, it looks super pretty when worn alone as a super fast cream shadow look.

MAYBELLINE BROW DRAMA SCULPTING MASCARA

No real way of knowing how much longer this will hold up, but I have been using it everyday. I'm actually learning to love it again - I think there's just definitely an adjustment period in getting used to that brush!

ITEM EIGHT - LUSH FEELING YOUNGER SKIN TINT (STARTED WITH 95% LEFT)

Despite using this every day as a highlight, it doesn't appear to actually be going anywhere! Because it is technically a 'skin tint' I've tried mixing it in with either my foundation or moisturiser to see if it would give a 'glowing from within' kind of look. It does not. it negatively affects the performance of my makeup throughout the day and I just didn't enjoy it. So, guess I'll be working through this for the next, y'know, forever... But, again, not really whining as I do love it as a highlight.

ITEM EIGHT - MAYBELLINE COLOR SHOW LIP PENCIL IN LIGHT IT UP (STARTED AT 95% FULL)

Not gonna lie, think I've only worn this twice. It's rained constantly, I've started a new job where I can't wear it and yeah, OK, it's a confidence thing too. I'll try harder next month, I swear!
ITEM NINE - THE BALM'S STANIAC LIP AND CHEEK STAIN SAMPLE (STARTED WITH ONE USE OUT OF IT)

While I still maintain that stains aren't meant for me, this one is the best I've ever tried. It's almost a gel like formula so it's a lot easier to work evenly into the skin than the more liquid types. I've worn it most days and I've learned to work with it, but definitely no plans to repurchase it once it's finished.

ITEM TEN - RIMMEL MATCH PERFECTION ILLUMINATING CONCEALER (STARTED WITH 40% LEFT)

Have used this every day... and there still seems to be loads left!! I'll be happy to see the end of this to be honest; not enough coverage and the formula isn't the best for hanging around all day either. The finish on it is lovely, but if I'm covering under eye circles, I want them covered.

Now, because three of the items above (Lush Feeling Younger Skin Tint. Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze and the Maybelline Color Drama Pencil in Light it Up) are going to take ages finish even if I try really, super, duper hard I've decided to add in three more products - which I know sounds counter productive, but hear me out...

The three, original 'difficult' items will remain in the project, but the project will end when the the ten other items finish - the 'difficult' ones will simply roll over into the next project. This will make the end of this project much more attainable and keep me more motivated, I think.

So what are the three new items?

ITEM ELEVEN - DOVE NOURISHING HAIR OIL SPRAY (60% LEFT)

Was so excited when I bought this, until I figured out it doesn't really do much. Still, in the depths of winter, it's worth trying again and frankly, it makes my hair smell nice anyway.

ITEM TWELVE - MINI TIN OF THE BURT'S BEES LEMON CUTICLE BUTTER - (95% LEFT)

I love this stuff, it smells delicious and it really nourishes and softens my cuticles... or it would, if I didn't forget to use it so often. So yeah, putting this in not because I want to use it up ASAP, but because I want to actually remember to use and enjoy it.

ITEM THIRTEEN - MAX FACTOR UNDER EYE CC CORRECTOR (95% LEFT)

Not a lotta love for this product if I'm honest. It has such a chalky, dry finish that you have to really work it in and blend it out to minimise that... but, after you've done that, the CC cream literally does nothing. Sincerely hoping I'm 'doing it wrong' and that I'll find a method that will make me love this.

And so that's all the update I have for now, I'll be back in a few weeks (or maybe a little longer, depending how how slow/fast things move) to update you again and hopefully I'll have another empty product or two to tell you about then!

Thanks for reading :)

  1. I was just yesterday thinking that for make up lovers it would be so much easier if they would bring out smaller sizes of products. Maybe excluding Mascara and liquid foundation, it takes ages to use up lipsticks, eyeshadows etc even when you are using them every single day. If you have a collection, you will most likely not run out of it for years. However, this things have a best before date, so inadvertently you will end up either using it way way way past its date or you will trash about 70% of most products which i feel bad about. So it would be so great if there would be more releases of smaller sizes maybe even a bit cheaper for the people under us which love to try many different things but still would like to not overfeed their trash containers.
