What's on my Face: January 2015

FOTD Lorac Pro
FOTD Lorac Pro

Regular readers will know that I have decided to take part in the Pan that Palette challenge this year and will be (slowly and) steadily working my way through the Lorac Pro palette until it's all gone (or I'm driven mad). I was all ready with other shadows at hand, figuring I'd be sick of using the same palette within days, but no, I've surprised myself: we're three weeks into the year and other than using Maybelline Color Tattoos as bases, the Lorac Pro is the only range of shadows I've reached for. Fear not, I'm sure it can't continue on like this - not every 'What's on my Face' post this year will be Lorac Pro-centric, I'm sure.

This look is my favourite from the palette so far, surprisingly, because it centres around the very red shade Garnet which initially terrified me. I wear it all over the lid with some of the deep, matte brown Espresso in the crease, and some of the warm, brown (not in anyway a taupe shade) Taupe as a transition colour. I then use Garnet along my lower lash line for just a touch of the Heroin Chic look.

Base wise I'm keeping it very simple, whilst trying to avoid crossing over the thin line and into 'flat' or 'dull'. I'm using my L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation (R1C1), which, when applied with a Beauty Blender gives me a very even, porcelain-skin-embracing, classic look. I'm then using the Rimmer Match Perfection Illuminating Concealer under my eyes, and the Lush Feeling Younger Skin Tint (Highligher) on my cheek bones to give a bit of light and depth.

Blush wise, I've been either skipping it completely or working my way through my sample size of The Balm's Staniac Cheek and Lip Stain - I need a very light hand, or, erm, finger with this, and just apply the smallest amount to the very apples of my cheeks. For a little warmth around my temples and cheeks I've been using the Soap and Glory Solar Powder Bronzer - it comes in tow halves; a matte, darker shade for contouring, and a much lighter shimmery side, which is what I've been using to add a bit of a sunkissed glow.

For lips, I've been keeping it very neutral since the eyes are a bit heavy. Here, and most days, I wear my Maybelline Color Sensational Nude Lipstick in Coffee Craze which is, for me, the perfect, brown-but-not-to-brown toned nude.

Other products used:

Eyeliner - Rimmel Scandaleyes in Nude on the water line, and Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Zero on the upper lash line.
