High End Haul

So, this haul is actually from a few weeks ago but I've left it until now to post because A) I wanted to have a little play with some of the products first so this isn't just a big ol' show and tell and B) I spent, for me, a lotta money in one go here and I'm still trying to adjust and feel like that's OK!! Let's get started...

The first thing I picked up was a MAC blush from the Toledo collection. I had swatched this and fallen in love with it in store, but I just couldn't quite bring myself to pay £25 for a blush, no matter how pretty it was! And of course, by the time I had changed my mind on the price tag, it was out of stock on the MAC website and in my local store, so boy was I relieved to find it at Debenhams online. The shade is Azalea Blossom and it is a dual toned blush - part cool toned pink and then transitioning into a cool toned, lilac purple. (Swatch at the bottom of the post). The purple may look a little intimidating in the pan, but I've found on my cool toned skin that it actually looks very natural and not at all as outlandish as I initially feared.

Then in TK Maxx, for just £6 each I came across two of these Too Faced Color Bomb lip colours in Bigger Berry - a pinky, purple berry shade - and Eastwood Red - a fierce and fiery red. These are kind of an odd, hybrid type product. They're moisturising crayons - think Clinique Chubby Stick but not as nourishing -, but then they're also quite a bit more pigmented and slippy... oh, and they're lip plumpers. So the first thing I need to say is that both of these shades bleed on me, now that's helped with a lipliner of course, but it does rather mean these aren't 'a quick slick of colour' type products. They are quite nourishing and gentle on the lips and the wear time isn't too bad considering the somewhat slippy feel they have. As far as the plumping, they do indeed to do it - my lips felt like they had pins and needles for about 10 minutes and yes, I did have a fuller pout, but, like most of these products, it was short lived, and, in my mind, kind of a gimmick really. (Swatches at the bottom of the post).

Speaking of Clinique Chubby Sticks - here is Super Strawberry - just one of many amazing shades from the range, but this is hands down my favourite. This is so wearable, so flattering and so kind to my lips, it's a great product to have in my handbag for emergencies - it works with every look and can be slicked on without a mirror.

And then from Clnique I also picked up some of their Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturiser (Shade One). I'd been looking to try a tinted moisturiser for some time, and this one had simply amazing reviews online. It lives up to they hype. It has a great level of coverage for light makeup days, it's very fast to apply and it gives my skin a super healthy looking glow. The only downside is that it can look a little too glowy as the day goes on - powder is necessary, even for my normally very dry skin.

And then Clinique had an offer on where, with the purchase of two items, I got three deluxe sized samples to try out. A sample of the Black Honey Almost Lipstick, which I haven't really tried yet, the High Impact Mascara, which I have passed on to my sister as I already have a full size of this waiting in the wings to be used and lastly, the Take the Day off Eye and Lip Makeup Remover  which I had been looking to try for some time. The bottom line: is it better than the Garnier version I've been using, yes. Is it worth about 4x the price? Nope.

And the last item I picked up is one that I have coveted for a long time, not that that makes it a justifiable purchase, a nude eye shadow palette was the last thing I needed! It is, as I'm sure everyone already knows, the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette. A cool toned, neutral thing of beauty. The quality is, as with all Urban Decay shadows, outstanding and, while I've always found the shadows to be rather heavy on fall-out, after months of using my LORAC Pro palette, suddenly, the Urban Decay shadows don't seem nearly as soft and crumbly!

From Left to Right: Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, Clinique Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry, Too Faced Color Bomb in Bigger Berry, Too Faced Color Bomb in Eastwood Red and lastly, the MAC Azalea Blossom Blush.

So that's that, a pretty big haul for me! Still can't believe I bought all that in one day - it seems crazy now - think my poor little debit card is still shaking and crying!
