Maybelline Brow Products Round-Up

Completely unintentionally, I seem to have accumulated a number of Maybelline's brow products and I thought it'd be handy to do a kind of round-up, or overview type post - I don't know about you, but I am always looking for tips and opinions when it comes to brow products (living in constant fear of caterpillar brows...)!

This was the first Maybelline brow product I ever used, heck this was the first brow product of any kind I ever used. I must have repurchased this four or five times, at least. I used to love it. It was crazy easy to apply; soft but not so much that it overapplied. It had a spoolie/spooly? on the other end which made it convenient as a stand alone product and, and here's the thing, this was a great brow shade for me. Like I said, I used this for years, but the last pencil I bought is just not a good look on my brows. Unfortunately, I don't have any of the older pencils to compare it too, but I'm fairly confident that they changed the colour in this. I still love the formula, the application, the finish - all I would say is to have a good ol' swatch before you buy as this is a much warmer shade than you may be expecting.

This is my go-to, everyday at work type product that I use. I'm lucky with my brows in that, while they're by no means perfect, they are of pretty even fullness - I don't have any specific gaps to fill. This is a strong gel that holds even my unruly brows in place all day, and, unlike the pencil above, this is a much ashier, cool shade which (on me at least) just looks so much more natural. The brush shape, I just, I don't even know - I can only assume someone was drunk when they designed it, but, I have gotten used to it and now can apply this in under a minute, without getting smears of product all over my nose, forehead... chin... trust me, that's a much bigger accomplishment that you might think with this brush shape!

OK, so don't laugh (or do it quietly so I can't hear you), but it took me years to work up the courage to fill in my brows with an eyeshadow. You hear people talking about it all the time, so casually as well; they just reach for something and voila - filled in brows. I used to sit for ages and stare at my dozens of brown eyeshadows and just think, HOW?!?!
Anyway, one day, for some reason, I just decided to try out Chic Taupe (I have no idea why...). As it turns out I think it's actually a prety good match for my colouring and it's super easy to apply, even if, like me, you're crazy nervous. There isn't any fallout and the pigementation, while good, it does allow for you to build things up slowly, which makes the whole process a lot less stressful.

To seal the powder in there and keep things tamed all day, I'm using the Brow Gel in transparent, which has the same great formula as the tinted shade.... but yes, it has that same, utterly insane brush.

On the top here, we have the Brow Pencil and on the bottom is the eye shadow in Chic Taupe - you can see how much more warm toned the pencil is

On my right brow (so, the left brow in the photo... confusing...) we have the Maybelline Brow Gel in Deep Blonde and the left brow has nothing on it.

My right brow has the Brow Gel in Deep Blonde, my left brow is the eye shadow in Chic Taupe and the Brow Gel in Transparent. You can see lefty looks just a little more defined, but still not crazy bold. (Also, please excuse how dry my skin is, having some issues at the moment...*sigh*)

Same products as the photo above, just to show how it actually looks on my face from a distance.

I know that there are some folks who don't go near drugstore products for their brows, and you know, I've never tried any of the Anastasia or Hourglass products, maybe they would make a world of difference, but still, I honestly believe if you're on a budget - you can get some great brow products on the High Street.

What are your favourite drugstore brow products?
